Comparison: healthcare in the United States versus Canada

Something is not adding up…

America vs. Canada: What Are We Paying For?

In 2024, the U.S. spent $14,570 per person on healthcare—nearly 1.6x more than Canada, which spent about $9,054 CAD per person.

But what do we get?
• Life Expectancy:

  • U.S.: 76.3 years
  • Canada: 82.6 years
    • Maternal Mortality (deaths per 100,000 births):
  • U.S.: 22.3
  • Canada: 11
    • Infant Mortality (deaths per 1,000 live births):
  • U.S.: 6.3
  • Canada: 5.0

We spend more. We live shorter lives. And more mothers and babies die.

When are we going admit that the for-profit insurance doesn’t work for health insurance? Or are we gonna just keep letting the super wealthy who have all the best health care decide for everybody else?
