If you got an error like "601 Database redigestation error", chances are you have been banned by Red State. As I did a little reading around the net (example), I can see people of both parties have been banned for various reasons. But what is apparent is that they offer a comments section that is only available for people who 100% agree with them. In my case, I offered my opinion about Solyndra since I live near them and had a few things I could offer. Solyndra was using curved cells that could get morning and evening light, not just afternoon. But one big problem is the price of flat cells got so low that the Solyndra business model was a bust. I also pointed out that both the Bush and Obama administrations' energy department was involved in Solyndra. Were there "backroom deals" or improprieties? Some would be quick to say Obama (or Bush) did something wrong. But can't we also discuss details and exchange viewpoints? So after giving my opinion, the next commenter called me a "jackass", and around that same time I was banned from the site. Red State may promote a number of things, but Democracy sure doesn't seem like one of them. I've always been a person that will talk to people on both sides of an issue, because there is always something that can be learned when we can share with one another. I'm not upset by this (though maybe I would have been a few years ago). It just shows you how there are people who want to control the flow of information, and that only limits our ability to get past problems and find real solutions. |
