Facebook Group Gets Their Own Website

I've been having a pretty fun time working on improvements to our software, and at the same time helping a Facebook group get their own presence online outside of Facebook. They are small with just 186 members as of today but growing fast. They are a poltical group, but with varying viewpoints, though tending more toward the liberal persuasion. It's been great seeing people from the group taking time to write articles and organize their thoughts, so the name Enhanced Reason is quite fitting.

Multi Blogger Platform

You can see the multi-blogger platform running over on Business Plexus. It has facebook comments integrated, as well as multi-author logins, trusted users, and much more. Here is a video overview of the new features in the admin.

phpLD Widgets

Today, we released phpLD Version 4 into Beta for licensed users, the new feature is widgets. This site (david-duval.com) is running phpLD version 4. Here is a little explanation of what widgets do.

First, there are currently four main positions where a widget can appear

1. Left Side
2. Center
3. Right Side
4. Detail Page

(In the future there may be more positions available)

Second, we have a new directory of widgets. Here you will find all sorts of "widgets" you can place in the areas listed above including:

1. Top Categories
2. Latest Links
3. Latest Tweets on Twitter
4. Full text of the last article

(there are a total of 17 so far, as well as many more to come)

Since I have the Latest Article widget turned on in the admin panel, you will see this article appear right on the homepage of my phpLD, so this helps me have fresh content every time I post a new article.

What is also nice is I can change the sort order of widgets, turn some off, and others on, move them to different locations, etc, and all it takes is a few tweaks from the admin panel. So very quickly I can change my site around using widgets. I hope others find widgets as fun as they have been for me!

New phpLD Tutorials Section

Sometimes for new users of phpLD, they would love to "tinker" with their site, but they feel a little overwhelmed trying to figure out the code, so we have launched a new tutorials section to make it easier to get started with making changes, from adding new modifications to simple design changes.

Here is a selection of some of the first tutorials we have published.

We will be adding more tutorials, and over time there will be a great selection of projects that people can undertake to make their directory unique and worthwhile!
